Why I Love Rhode Island - Heidi Farmer Piccerelli
After growing up on Providence's East Side, I moved to Boston, San Francisco (for 10 years), up to Seattle, back to Boston, and now live, once again, here in Rhode Island. I continued to ask myself how I could have given up all of those wonderful places and come back to the very place I had apparently outgrown?
Well, it shocked me but Providence was a completely different place, with different faces & downtown structures I didn't even recognize. The river had actually moved! Instead of choosing between a few well known haunts we could count on growing up here, there are countless amounts of sophisticated restaurants which challenged even some of the best in Boston, New York and San Francisco - not to mention the arts and cultural boom here. I could not believe it. I was in awe of Providence. Now I am here enjoying the new Rhode Island lifestyle I've lovingly become accustomed to once again.
Simply put - Rhode Island rocks.
We are surrounded by water, have the most beautiful beaches in New England, we can hop on a train to Boston or New York in a flat second and be back that night - or commute a couple of times a week there if the job requires it. The housing prices are incredible, and what a great time to buy with interest rates at an incredible low...
The best news is... this place is only getting better!
